Park & Recreation District | FAQ's | Messages from supporters Messages from supportersKR, 44, female 9 and 11 year old children, 14 year Conifer resident I would NEVER give away the great opportunity we have in our mountain community to walk out the door and have the BEST playground (hiking, mountain biking etc.) in the world! However, with the growth we have seen in the past 12 years, more and more parents have to take that long, POLLUTING ride to Evergreen (or even Lakewood) to access another community's fields and recreation centers. Wouldn't we all like to see less traffic on the roads? Also, we can create jobs right here in OUR community and save folks from driving down the hill to work. The CCC would need maintenance and front desk people, lifeguards, activity coordinators etc. This is just ONE aspect of the positive impact of a Conifer Community Center on our mountain lives! RG, 18 year Conifer resident, 48, no children A community center will be a gathering place for the residents of Conifer and will create a bonding of these residents and give Conifer a stronger sense of identity. My personal reasons for wanting a community center are simple and straight forward: a) a place to exercise year round, and b) being a youth basketball coach, a place to develop the skills of the youth of Conifer to help build the Conifer HS basketball programs. LG,50, 18 year Conifer resident, no children A rec center in my community would make it easier to succeed in a routine workout going to, or coming home, from work. Convenience, when short on time, is key to fitness success by making healthy lifestyle choices readily available. MS, 31-year Conifer resident. "In 30 years, we've seen incredible growth --supermarkets, restaurants, a high school -- but still no place for us to gather as a community. I'd love to see a center where all ages can experience healthy recreational and social activities." JL, 15-year Conifer resident, two children With two boys active in sports, I find myself constantly driving to other communities to enjoy the beautiful rec centers they have to offer. With the growth our area has seen in the past years, I find it hard to believe we haven't invested in the infrastructure that would make our beautiful Conifer a destination, bringing our commuter community together. |
